‘Purple patch’ continues for Thorburn in women’s golf

Eight brave players competed in a Single Stableford in bleak, cold, windy and finally sunny weather at the Gympie golf course.

GYMPIE GOLF CLUB – LADIES’ NEWS

Last Wednesday (9/6) eight brave ladies played a Single Stableford competition in bleak, cold, windy and finally sunny weather.

Clair Thorburn, who is enjoying a purple patch, came in winner with a great score of 37 points. Well done Clair.

Ann Rigbye, was Runner Up with 32 points while Yoey Coogan and Maureen Carroll (31) won balls in the rundown. Pin Shots: Par 3 6th – Clair, Par 3 17th – Yoey.

Ann was a bit clever to have a birdie on the Par 5 13th. Lydia Costello will be enjoying coffee compliments of Eat at Candy’s, Mary Street.

It was great to see so many ladies playing in Saturday’s (12/6) Single Stableford Competition, in perfect golfing weather.

Winner of the day – yes you guessed it – was the ever consistent Del Groundwater with a great score of 37 points.

Stella Macklin came in Runner Up two shots behind on 35 points on a countback from Maureen Carroll and Karen Mills. Annette Slater and Marj Dakin (33) also won balls in the rundown.

Pin Shots: Jean Peters - Par 3 3rd, Stella Macklin – Par 3 16th. Stella scored the only birdie for the day on the Par 3 17th.

Saturday (19/6) ladies are scheduled to play a Single Stroke competition. Wednesday (23/06) ladies will play a Single Stableford.
