Popular Gympie painter Steven Verity seriously injured in work accident
The co-owner of a popular Gympie painting company is fighting to recover at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital after suffering ‘life-threatening’ injuries in a work accident.

The family of Gympie painter Steven Verity say the popular businessman is fighting to recover from serious injuries suffered in a shocking workplace incident.
Mr Verity’s injuries were revealed in a Wednesday Facebook post by Mary St business Hair Review, which is owned and run by Mr Verity and his wife Carolann.
The post said on Thursday, November 7, Mr Verity – the co-owner of Verity-Mayfield Painters – “was involved in a life-threatening accident while working”.
“Steven has sustained extensive injuries, including 23 broken ribs, a broken collarbone, scapula, pelvis, and multiple broken vertebrae in his spine,” the post said.

He was taken to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital “to determine the best course of treatment”.
The post said initial plans for the first of “many” surgeries unfortunately “did not go as planned”.
“Unfortunately, Steven’s broken ribs have punctured both of his lungs, resulting in this very important surgery being postponed,” the Facebook post said.
“This has left the family in uncertainty about the next steps.”
It said Mr Verity’s family were “deeply grateful for the outpour of support from our amazing clients and community” in the wake of his accident.
“We will try our best to update you all via this platform on Steven and the family’s journey through this difficult time,” it said.
It urged the community “to hold your loved ones close, as life can change in an instant. We love each of you and appreciate your understanding during this difficult time”.
