A mother of two adult children pleaded guilty in Gympie Magistrates Court on Monday to producing and possessing dangerous drugs, and possessing utensils for making dangerous drugs.
Giget Leta Taylor, 57, was busted by police at her Gympie home on March 20, 2024, where two cannabis plants about 2m high were found growing.
Police also found a container with 68g of cannabis and another container with 110g of cannabis.
Her defence lawyer, Laura Nightingale, told the court Taylor suffered from fibromyalgia as a result of a serious car accident 12 years ago in which she nearly lost some of her limbs and the offender was sentenced to jail.
“My client was born in Gympie and has been a hard working person throughout her life, raised two adult children, and she has a great relationship with her husband however, she went through ups and downs in her life,” Ms Nightingale said.
“My client has gone for treatments including natural therapy to heal and cure her condition but it didn’t help her in the past.”
The cannabis helped Taylor with her pain, Ms Nightingale said.
Taylor was fined $400 and not further punished.
