Daniel John Grimstone-Remy charged with drugs, weapons, traffic offences

A man accused of causing a high-speed crash outside a busy primary school has been arrested and charged with 65 counts of supplying drugs, and selling drugs to children.

A 32-year-old man accused of causing a high-speed crash outside Jones Hill primary school will front Gympie Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday on 79 fresh charges following his arrest on Friday, June 16.

Daniel John Grimstone-Remy, is charged with committing most of the offences in Gympie between March 3 and June 6, 2023.

Charges include 65 counts of supplying dangerous drugs, three counts of receiving or possessing property obtained from trafficking or supplying, one count of having explosives, unlawful possession of a weapon, aggravated supply of drugs to a minor aged 16 or more, and possessing anything used in the commission of a crime.

Seven more charges were laid at Caboolture.

These included unlawful possession of a weapon on June 1, using an unregistered vehicle, driving without due care or attention, and driving without a licence on June 5, unlawful possession of a weapon (short firearm in public) and possessing anything used in the commission of a crime over a June 6 incident, and breaching bail on June 14.

Mr Grimstone-Remy had been on bail following a June 6 incident at Jones Hill, a suburb of Gympie, in which he allegedly was caught driving on the Mary Valley Rd at 142km/h before crashing into cars outside Jones Hill primary school during pick up hours.

Footage released by police of the incident showed a white Ford Focus, allegedly driven by Mr Grimstone-Remy, sideswipe a car and rolling up onto two wheels as it tried to pass between two vehicles on McIntosh Creek Rd.

The car was later found at Judicial Circuit, about 200m west of the scene, but the driver had fled.

Mr Grimstone-Remy was arrested by police while he was allegedly in possession of a quantity of drugs, drug utensils, a small knife and two firearms.

He is facing 16 charges over the incident including disobeying the speed limit, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle whilst adversely affected by an intoxicating substance, failing to comply with duties of a driver involved in a crash, and driving a car without a driver’s licence (disqualified by court order).

He is expected to apply for bail at Tuesday’s court appearance.
