A man accused of trying to murder a Southside husband and wife as they were walking their dogs has been remanded in custody to the Gympie Magistrates Court.

Colin James Tupper, 34, a father of two and employee at the Woolworths supermarket on Gympie’s Southside, did not enter a plea when he appeared in the dock on May 29, 2023, on a number of charges, including two charges of attempted murder.

Mr Tupper, who lives on Sorensen Road not far from where the incident occurred and where the Bensons live, presented to the court with neat, ash blonde hair and a close cut beard.

He was smartly dressed in a white collar shirt and blue jersey, and remained composed as he exchanged words with a tearful woman through the perspex glass before proceedings began.
