The owner of a popular barbershop in the Gympie CBD is hoping to revitalise the city’s nightlife, with an exciting new “barbershop beer garden”.
Stacy “Lady Memphis” Edwards started her Mary St business three years ago, and it has quickly grown to a well-known shop.
What is less well-known about the business, however, is the ongoing project happening behind the scenes in the backyard.

Club Jackie was built over several months at the back of the property by Stacy and her uncle.
Named after a historic jacaranda tree overhanging the garden, the open air venue pays homage to the alleyway bars of Sydney and Melbourne.

A city slicker at heart, Stacy said she hopes to run monthly events in the barbershop beer garden.
“It’s so people can meet, it’s for our community,” she said.
“I don’t mind pulling some money out of my own pocket so that the community can have something different and fun that they’re not used to.
“I’m open to doing different stuff if people want it.”
One such event will be taking place on Saturday November 12, 2022 from 8.30pm.
Patrons are invited to bring their own drinks and enjoy themselves in the relaxed environment.
Visitors are asked to provide a $20 donation to help with maintenance.
Stacy has already run several events, but hopes this one will be the biggest yet.
“I want it to be a regular occurrence so that people can have fun,” she said.
“It’s a place you can come be whoever you want to be, and no one will care.
“We’re just sitting in my garden – you can’t get more relaxed than that.”
