After four days of boot scootin’ in the Amamoor Creek State Forest, the 2022 Gympie Music Muster came to an end on Monday.

The event was bigger than ever after two years of Covid-19 cancellations, with more than 40,000 fans passing through the gates.

Clear skies and a winter sun shone down on campgrounds that were packed almost to capacity.

Diehard fans, eager to party with their Muster mates, showed up a week - or in some cases weeks - early to set up their colourful campsites and quirky bars.

Sadly, tragedy struck the night before the event officially kicked off with a frantic battle to save the life of a 59-year-old man ending in his death due to a medical condition.

The Gympie Times captured more than 200 moments on camera on the first two days of the Muster, but there was no stopping the party as Australia’s country icons rocked the crowd on Saturday.

“The belated 40th anniversary Muster was a very successful festival,” Muster chairman Greg Cavanagh said in a statement on Tuesday.

“The rodeo was an outstanding success – I think the patrons will demand its return. The program was exceptional, the crowd and their behaviour was exceptional; it was everything the muster should be,” Mr Cavanagh said.

Tickets and merchandise were in hot demand, and the Muster’s charity partner, Queensland Country Women’s Association, had their scones fly out the doors. An online Muster merchandise store has opened in the wake of the great success.

The Gympie Muster board members will be making a donation to the QCWA and charity will benefit from those who decided not to cash in all the money left on their festival wristbands, the statement said.

“Queensland CWA was a great charity, with a lot of tradition and a lot of history to celebrate their anniversary as well,” Mr Cavanagh said.

Tickets are on sale for the 2023 Gympie Music Muster and early bird ticket prices are available until the end of September.

The first artist announcement for 2023 will be made in coming months.
