Despite a rainy forecast the Gympie Show is back on and organisers are expecting a big turn out as a list of popular thrill rides is also revealed.

Queensland braces for severe weather

The Gympie Show Society expects a big turnout for this year’s event, despite heavy rain forecasted for the upcoming show days.

The event organisers are hoping for a positive comeback after Covid mandates and flood damage setbacks threatened the favourite event.

“The show goes ahead, rain, hail or shine,” Gympie Show Society president Deb Brown said.

The show will feature a variety of live events and activities, ranging from rodeo and bike exhibits, to arts-and-crafts stalls. The show organisers are particularly eager for the firework display every night, starting at 7:30pm.

The Gympie show will once again offer Sideshow Alley’s popular thrill rides, including The Extreme, Tornado and Big Whizzer.

Highly anticipated ride, 'The Extreme' is back on this year.

Ms Brown has a big line-up of competitors and full stables for the range of event programs.

She expects a turn-up of 50 dairy cattle and 80 stud cattle for the cattle judging events on Thursday and Friday.

“I am extremely proud of my committee members and volunteers who made this happen,” she said.

The gates will open at 9am to the public on Thursday.

Tickets are available online, with discount coupons available until Wednesday night.
