The remarkable difference a decade can make has been captured on camera with new images revealing how some of Gympie’s most popular schools have changed.
The photographs, captured by aerial image company Nearmap, show the changes many of the region’s schools have undergone as the Gympie region’s population continues to surge.
Population data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics shows from 2012 to 2021 the region’s population grew more than 14 per cent, from an estimated 46,800 to about 53,000.
There has been no shortage of construction and development at some of the region’s schools in the past decade to meet the growth.
This included the addition of a new administration building at St Patrick’s College in the centre of the city.
In August 202o the State Government announced the region’s schools were getting a $2.4m funding injection, delivered through a number upgrades to facilities.
Only two years earlier in 2018, James Nash State High School had a new $4.96m two-storey learning centre built at its campus, while it was only a year after the 2012 photos of Gympie State High School were taken that construction began on its $4.5m Year 7 building.
The aerial imagery is from Australian location intelligence company Nearmap.
