CONSTRUCTION of Gympie State High School's $4.5 million Year 7 building is in full swing.

The two-storey building, taking shape on lower Tozer Oval near the school's "cybrary" and admin building, will contain eight classrooms, two collaborative learning areas, a flexible learning centre, two project development areas and a staff room.

The precinct would ensure the best possible transition in 2015 for Year 7s into "our successful school", principal Murray Wegner said.

"Our community at Gympie State High School is excited to welcome this state-of-the-art learning environment to our great teaching and learning facilities," Mr Wegner said.

Mr Wegner and Junior Secondary Head of Department Anna Cox recently inspected the construction project, which is now in full swing and to 0be completed in September next year.

Gympie State High School staff are looking forward to sharing the plans with parents at parent information sessions, being held soon.
