Gympie Regional Council says it has no plans to upgrade or seal Anderleigh Rd, despite traffic counters logging about 100 local motorists using it every day.
The road has long been a sore point for nearby residents, with Andrea Pel taking to Facebook this week to vent her frustration about what she called a “slip and slide”.
Ms Pel called the state of the road “unacceptable”, but a spokesman for the council said it had not received any complaints about the road since it was last graded in May.
“(The) road was graded in May and there has been some pothole repairs in the sealed section and traffic sign repairs since,” the spokesman said.
“Our traffic counters have shown the following on the unsealed sections: Between Red Ridge Road and Queen Street 86 vehicles per day, west of Hans Road 104 vehicles per day (and) south east of Antimony Road 87 vehicles per day.
“(There are) no current plans (to upgrade Anderleigh Rd). There are a number of factors which go into sealing roads, traffic count being one of them as well as ongoing repairs and maintenance. At this point Anderleigh Road does not meet the criteria for sealing.”
The spokesman suggested motorists should “drive to conditions” if they experienced difficulties on the road.
