Callum Robert McClay remanded in custody over alleged Gympie stabbing

The last man charged over an alleged daylight ambush on Gympie boxer Danny Hawkins has fronted court after police added new charges.

The final man charged over the alleged stabbing of Gympie boxer Danny Hawkins along with 16 drug charges, added since his weekend arrest, will remain behind bars until his next court appearance in November.

Callum Robert McClay, 22, entered no plea and did not apply for bail when he appeared in Gympie Magistrates Court.

He and his co-accused, Ben Colin Buggy, 19, Israel Colin Buggy, 45, and Bronson Israel Buggy, 23, are all charged with acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm.

Mr McClay is also charged with possessing used drug utensils, possessing property suspected of being used under the Drugs Misuse Act, producing dangerous drugs, and 12 charges of supplying dangerous drugs.

It comes after footage of the of the alleged ambush was played when the youngest Buggy was denied bail in Gympie Magistrates Court on Monday.

During the bail application for Mr Buggy on Monday, the court heard members of the Hawkins family were building a cubby outside their home when the group arrived wielding weapons.

Police alleged footage of the incident captured on Snapchat and shown in court on Monday showed Israel Buggy carrying a knife, Bronson Buggy wielding a knife and a machete, and Mr McClay allegedly bearing knuckle dusters.

The attack allegedly happened while Mr Hawkins’ family was present.

Mr McClay was remanded in custody until his next court appearance on November 8 for mention of the grievous bodily harm charge, and review of the 16 drug charges.

Israel and Bronson Buggy also did not apply for bail.
