A woman injured in a motorbike crash in the Gympie region earlier Friday afternoon (August 6) has been rushed to Gympie Hospital in a serious condition while a rescue helicopter awaits her arrival.

Emergency services were called to the scene of a single motorbike crash on Sandy Creek Road in Downsfield at 12.27pm, with a Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman revealing a woman aged in her 50s was being treated at the scene.
The woman was treated at the scene before being taken by ambulance back to Gympie, as the rescue chopper reportedly could not find space to land safely at the scene of the crash.

A rescue helicopter has been called to a serious motorbike crash in Downsfield in the Gympie region early Friday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the scene on Sandy Creek Road at about 12.27pm, with a Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman revealing a woman aged in her 50s was being treated at the scene.
The rescue chopper was tasked to the scene shortly after, the spokeswoman said.
A source at the scene said Sandy Creek Rd is closed around the intersection at Tippman Rd and will remain closed “for some time” while the helicopter is called in.
