New details have emerged after a motorcyclist was killed after colliding with a horse on Sunday.

The man was killed after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a horse near Maryborough about 4.15am on December 22.

A Queensland Ambulance statement said the incident between the motorcycle and a horse occurred on an intersection between the Bruce Highway and Petersen Rd.

On Monday police said the rider was a 46-year-old man from Oakhurst in New South Wales.
