A teenage boy was lucky to escape life threatening injuries in the crash near Imbil on Friday night

Witnesses who were among the first on the scene described how the young man was slipping in and out of consciousness and had blood coming from his nose and mouth

A teenaged boy was taken to Gympie Hospital in a stable condition on Friday night after the car he was travelling in hit a tree on the Kandanga Imbil Road.

He is reported to now be home and recovering from cuts and bruises he received in the single vehicle crash about 8.30pm Friday.

The occupants of two cars travelling behind the vehicle helped the young man until emergency services arrived.

One of those first people on the scene later described the harrowing scene in a Facebook post and said she hoped he was doing OK.

“I was hoping I didn’t have to perform CPR as he kept slipping in and out of consciousness, bleeding from the nose and mouth couldn’t tell if anything was broken at the time but he was breathing which was a good sign and a relief. All three of us stayed with him until police ambos and firies all got there and took over from us all.

“I‘ve seen accidents in my life time but have never had to stop due to everyone already needing to be there being there so was quite scary hoping I don’t have to experience it again in the future.”
