A man’s traffic history came back to bite him on Tuesday in the Gladstone Magistrates Court.

Tyler-James John Jackson, 24, pleaded guilty to driving a motor vehicle without a driver’s licence.

Police prosecutor Carl Spargo read the facts of Jackson’s case to the court and Acting Magistrate Paul Byrne.

On May 13, around 9.40am, police from Calliope Road Policing Unit intercepted a white Toyota Landcruiser and identified Jackson as the driver.

Checks on his licence indicated he had been demerit point suspended from March 31 for 12 months.

Jackson told police he had recently had his licence reinstated following a special hardship order and was unaware of the demerit point suspension.

He further stated he had resided at the address on his licence for about nine months.

Further checks were conducted by police with Queensland Transport that confirmed the suspension.

Jackson was issued a notice to appear in the Gladstone Magistrates Court.

Mr Byrne said he had no choice but to increase the penalty imposed on Jackson, given he had previous offences of a like nature on his traffic history.

Jackson was convicted and fined $450 and suspended from driving for six months.
