A Gladstone man told police he smoked marijuana around midnight before driving the next day, a court heard.

Jeffrey Wade Clancy, 35, pleaded guilty in the Gladstone Magistrates Court to drug driving on Tuesday.

On April 7, around 3pm, police intercepted a Hyundai wagon on Wood Street, Barney Point and Clancy submitted to a roadside breath test and licence check.

He was detained for questioning and subsequently made admissions to smoking a joint of marijuana about midnight.

A sample of Clancy’s saliva was sent for analysis and returned a positive reading for cannabis on April 27.

Acting Magistrate Paul Byrne fined Clancy $750, suspended him from driving for one month and recorded a conviction.
