Police investigations are continuing after a four-wheel-drive ute towing a caravan caught fire on the Bruce Highway between Gladstone and Rockhampton.
A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said emergency services were called following reports of a four-wheel-drive ute towing a caravan on fire along Hut Creek Bridge on the Bruce Highway at Raglan about 9.18pm on Sunday, September 1.
She said initial investigations indicate that a man driving along the highway veered off the road into the bushes.
The spokeswoman said once the vehicle came to a stop, it caught alight and became fully engulfed in flames a short time later.
She said the northbound lane on the highway was closed for about an hour.
A Queensland Fire Department spokesman said an area of grass on fire as well.
He said two crews attended, arriving on scene just after 10pm, and that the fire was out about 10.55pm.
The spokesman said crews returned to the scene about 1.10am due to a small reignition of the fire.
A man in his 50s was transported in a stable condition with minor burns to Gladstone Hospital.
Investigations are ongoing.
Emergency services also responded to a two vehicle crash on the Dawson Highway at Mount Alma at 5.21am on Monday where Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics assessed six patients.
All patients were in stable conditions, with only one requiring transport to Gladstone Hospital after sustaining a minor head injury.
A QPS spokeswoman said one of the vehicles in the crash rolled.
She said it did not block the Dawson Highway.
