Single mum Shay Ruth Bennett already had a $15,000 SPER debt to her name when police busted her driving while court disqualified at Gladstone on December 27.
The 26-year-old’s problems got worse after she pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on February 27 to that offence.
The court heard that in June last year, Bennett copped a two-year driving ban for disqualified driving.
In relation to the latest offence, solicitor Caitlin Dee said Bennett had made a “rash decision” to leave a bad situation when she drove and was caught by police.
The court heard that Bennett was a single mum of one receiving a single mother’s pension, and she had a $15,000 debt with the State Penalties Enforcement Registry.
Magistrate Mary Buchanan fined Bennett $900 and disqualified her from driving for two years.
A traffic conviction was recorded.
