From a professional fisherman of 18 years to a single mum, to a father with a criminal history “littered” with drug crimes, here’s some of the drug offenders who faced Gladstone Magistrates Court recently.

Wayne John Oliver, 39

Oliver, a father of three with a history of drug offending, was given a suspended jail sentence in Gladstone Magistrates Court on February 21 after pleading guilty to numerous offences including multiple counts of possessing dangerous drugs and restricted medicines, and one count of drug-driving.

The court heard that Oliver had a 10-page criminal history which was “littered with” drug offending.

In relation to his latest offences, Oliver was busted with methamphetamine, cannabis and numerous restricted medicines.

“Fairly small amounts of drugs but there’s just so many charges on top of your history which, as I said, is littered with similar offending,” Magistrate Mary Buchanan said prior to sentencing.

Ms Buchanan sentenced Oliver to four months’ jail, wholly suspended for 18 months.

She also fined him $1250 and disqualified him from driving for one month.

Convictions were recorded.

Cuthbert pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on February 20 to possessing dangerous drugs and drug utensils.

The court heard that police found Cuthbert with 2.6g of cannabis and a water pipe at Gladstone on January 22.

With a seven-page criminal history, Cuthbert was fined $400 and a conviction was recorded.

Kotlar pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on January 31 to two counts of possessing dangerous drugs and one count of possessing drug utensils.

The court heard that police found Kotlar with .21g of methamphetamine, .83g of cannabis, and a pipe at Barney Point on July 8 last year.

It was told that Kotlar had a six-page criminal history and he was on a suspended sentence for drug offending at the time of committing these offences.

He was sentenced to four months’ jail, the suspended sentence was activated, and given immediate parole.

Convictions were recorded.

Kym Leanne McDonald, 39

McDonald pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on January 30 to possessing dangerous drugs and a drug utensil.

The court heard that McDonald, who had previous drug offending on her criminal history, was busted with .9g of cannabis and a water pipe at her West Gladstone residence on January 10.

She was fined $750 and a conviction was recorded.

Joshua Leslie Griffin, 36

Griffin pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on January 23 to four drug-related charges including possessing dangerous drugs.

The court heard that Griffin was found with 94.3g of cannabis after police executed a search warrant at a West Gladstone residence.

It was told that Griffin had a three-page criminal history which included drug offending.

Solicitor Rio Ramos said Griffin, who had worked as a fisherman for 18 years, was a medicinal cannabis user.

She said some of the cannabis in Griffin’s possession had been prescribed and some had not.

Griffin was fined $750 and a conviction was recorded.

Neil Christopher Howett, 39

Howett pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on January 23 to one count of possessing dangerous drugs.

The court heard that on November 25 last year, police intercepted a vehicle at a Miriam Vale roadhouse and Griffin was found with 2.5g of cannabis.

The court was told that Howett was on probation at the time and he had a three-page criminal history which included previous drug offending.

Howett, a former caravan detailer currently receiving Newstart Allowance, was fined $500 and a conviction was recorded.

Lyndelle Jane Ramsay, 48

Ramsay pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on February 19 to possessing dangerous drugs.

The court heard that on January 29, Ramsay was taken to a police watchhouse in relation to another matter when a clip-seal bag fell out of her phone case - it contained a small amount of methamphetamine.

With no prior history, Ramsay, a single mum of two who receives a disability pension, was fined $450 and no conviction was recorded.

Jordan Pettitt, 21

Pettitt pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on February 19 to possessing dangerous drugs and drug utensils.

The court heard that on January 28, police were called to a disturbance at Gill St, Charters Towers, and during a search of Pettitt’s backpack, they found a clip-seal bag containing .13g of cannabis.

With no prior offending of this sort, Pettitt was placed on a four-month good behaviour order with a $450 recognisance. No conviction was recorded.

Xander Stephen Richard Crowe, 21

Crowe pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on January 31 to numerous drugs charges including possession and supply.

The court heard that police executed a search warrant at a Boyne Island residence on August 8 last year and found Crowe with 30.7g of cannabis.

It heard that Crowe was caught selling cannabis and he did so to support his pregnant partner.

Crowe, unemployed and on Jobseeker Allowance, was placed on 12 months’ probation with no conviction recorded.

Sharlene Pearl Bunting, 45

Bunting pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on January 23 to possessing dangerous drugs and a knife in public.

The court heard that police found Bunting with .2g of meth and two knives during a vehicle intercept on McDonald Street on November 9 last year.

With a one-page criminal history including drug offending, Bunting, who is unemployed, was fined $700 and no conviction was recorded.

Alicia Lyndal Gibson, 23

Gibson pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on January 23 to three drug-related charges including possessing dangerous drugs.

The court heard that police executed a search warrant at Off Lane, on November 21 last year, and Gibson was found with 11g of cannabis and drug items.

With a one-page criminal history including previous drug offending, Gibson was placed on a four-month good behaviour order with a $450 recognisance and drug diversion.

No conviction was recorded.
