A Central Queensland man choked a woman until she passed out and wet herself – then when she regained consciousness he committed further disgusting acts, a court has heard.
Dale Kevin Trevor Murray, 39, appeared in custody in Gladstone Magistrates Court on January 10 where he was sentenced.
Murray had previously pleaded guilty to charges including assault occasioning bodily harm (domestic violence offence) and the matters were adjourned part heard.
Prior to sentencing on January 10, the court heard Murray’s offending involved him putting his hands around the female victim’s throat and applying pressure, which caused her to lose consciousness and wet herself.
The court was told that after the woman regained consciousness, Murray spat in her face “numerous times.”
Magistrate Mary Buchanan noted Murray had previous domestic violence offending on his criminal history and she described the offending for which he was currently before the court as “very serious.”
Ms Buchanan noted Murray’s solicitor Rio Ramos had submitted his client was remorseful and apologetic for what he had done.
The court also heard Murray had a “solid” employment history and a job to go to once he was released from custody.
Ms Buchanan sentenced Murray to two years’ jail, declared 59 days’ pre-sentence custody as time already served, and fixed parole release at May 12, 2024.
Convictions were recorded.
