A Gladstone region grandmother has faced court on a string of drug offences featuring methamphetamine and cannabis.

Monicque Therese Sharman, 51, pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on April 5 to 15 offences including four counts of possessing dangerous drugs, possessing drug items, possessing property used in connection with a drug offence, failing to take reasonable care of a syringe, drug driving, and seven counts of possessing restricted medicines.

The court heard Sharman’s offending included possessing 0.107g of meth, 0.02g of meth, 2.4g of cannabis and 1.16g of cannabis mixed in with tobacco.

When police caught Sharman drug driving, she had both meth and cannabis in her system.

The court heard Sharman had a one-page criminal history and her offending was “sporadic”.

Solicitor Cassandra Ditchfield said Sharman was a mother and grandmother who was on a disability support pension.

Ms Ditchfield said Sharman suffered “greatly” from mental health issues and she tendered documentation to support that.

The solicitor said Sharman also struggled significantly with social interaction and she had given up drugs since this offending.

Acting Magistrate Mary Buchanan dismissed three of the possessing restricted medicines charges and fined Sharman $800 for all of the other offences.

Sharman was also disqualified from driving for three months.

Convictions were recorded.
