An argument over a bag containing an Xbox led to a violent exchange where a woman grabbed her boyfriend’s testicles and he bit her on the back, Gladstone Magistrates Court has heard.
Jason Raine Petersen, 20, pleaded guilty to assault occasioning bodily harm (domestic violence offence).
Police prosecutor Kelvin Boyd said on June 7, Petersen and the female victim got into an argument at West Gladstone.
Mr Boyd said the woman threw Petersen’s bag and told him to leave.
The prosecutor said Petersen tried to grab the bag back and during a struggle, the victim grabbed his testicles.
“The struggle has continued and (Petersen) has bitten the victim on the back,” Mr Boyd said.
The next day, the woman showed police the bite marks on her back and a bruise on her shoulder.
The court heard Petersen had no criminal history.
Solicitor Rio Ramos said Petersen and the victim had been in a relationship but that was now over.
She said Petersen was receiving a disability support pension and currently looking for work.
“At the time of the offence, the victim has initially thought that my client damaged her car, so she wanted $300 off of him,” Ms Ramos said.
“However the reason why there was an argument over the bag (was) because my client’s Xbox was in the bag.
“And I think the victim wanted to take the Xbox from him to use as collateral.”
Acting Magistrate Stephen Byrne placed Petersen on a 12-month good behaviour order with a $1000 recognisance.
No conviction was recorded.
