Blanchard was intercepted by police driving a blue Nissan Pulsar on Mercury Street, Telina around 11pm on July 23.
When police approached Blanchard’s car he was seen to be moving around rapidly and police questioned him on his recent activity.
Blanchard told police he had just left Harvey Road Tavern and was travelling home to Pike Crescent, Toolooa.
The police noticed Blanchard was travelling through backstreets and did not appear to be on a direct route home from the Tavern.
Blanchard and his car were detained for a search which uncovered 1.52 grams of marijuana under the driver's seat.
He denied any knowledge of the illicit drug and stated a friend borrowed the car earlier that day, however, would not provide any details to police.
Blanchard was convicted and fined $800. A conviction was recorded.
Lukaz Joseph Penk, 22
On July 23, around 8.30am, Gladstone police executed a search warrant on a Hawthorne Street address.
Police located six people, including Penk and detained all of them for a search.
Prior to the search commencing Penk told police there was a tupperware containing 6.3 grams of marijuana and a cone piece which he pulled from his jacket pocket.
Further, Penk declared a blue Gatorade bag in his bedroom, which police found contained eight alfoil packets which contained marijuana with ‘$50’ written on it. The total weight of the packets was 22.9 grams.
The search of the bag did not end there and three sandwich bags which contained seven grams of marijuana with a ‘Q’ written on the bag was found.
Police continued to search Penk’s bedroom and located 1.5 grams of marijuana on a set of digital scales and a foil wrap containing 2.6 grams of marijuana.
A search of the kitchen revealed a grinder lid which contained 3.5 grams of marijuana dust covered in alfoil in the freezer.
When questioned Penk said he had previously overdosed on MDMA and since then he had been diagnosed with anxiety and used three grams of marijuana a day.
The total weight of marijuana found during the raid by police was 57.8 grams.
Penk was entered into a 12 month good behaviour order with a $400 recognisance and sent to drug diversion given his limited history. No conviction was recorded.
Matthew John Tankard, 44
On July 19, around 1am, Tankard was intercepted by Gladstone police driving on Javelin Street, Toolooa.
During conversations with Tankard, police formed a suspicion he was in possession of dangerous drugs and he and his vehicle were detained for a search.
During the search, police located a clip seal bag which contained 0.27 grams of white powder in Tankard’s mobile phone case.
When questioned, Tankard said the powder was cocaine he had purchased at a pub a few days ago and he had been intending to use it.
Magistrate Bevan Manthey convicted and sentenced Tankard to two months prison, wholly suspended with an operational period of one year. A conviction was recorded.
Robert James Bacon, 52
Gladstone police spoke with Bacon around 9.30pm on August 6 after seeing his vehicle parked at the intersection of the Bruce Highway and Gladstone-Mount Larcom Road.
Bacon was asked if he was carrying anything in his pockets, to which he replied no, however, then pulled out a small stained tupperware container and said, “just my little tin with medication”.
Bacon opened the container which contained green leafy material, which he admitted was marijuana.
Bacon told police he had used marijuana for 30 years and was making efforts to “try and get off it”.
Magistrate Bevan Manthey convicted and fined Bacon $100 and recorded a conviction.
