A Gladstone mother who claimed to police she was “channelling an archangel” when she allegedly murdered her son, had her matter briefly heard in court.
Glen Eden woman, Lee Ann Forrest, 50 remains in custody almost two months after she allegedly fatally stabbed her son, Cameron Forrest.
It is alleged Forrest’s son, and brother of the deceased, Alex William Forrest assisted her in the murder. He last appeared in Rockhampton Magistrates Court last week.
Forrest’s matter was again mentioned in Gladstone Magistrates Court on Tuesday and was adjourned until July 12, awaiting a brief of evidence.
Legal Aid Queensland defence lawyer Sandra Nicholas appeared on behalf of Forrest, who remains in custody at a mental health facility in Brisbane.
Ms Nicholas told newly-appointed Gladstone Magistrate John Milburn the defence was awaiting a brief of evidence to be supplied by the prosecution before any potential bail application was submitted.
“If the prosecution need more time that shouldn’t be a problem, Ms Forrest will need to be assessed (mental health) so there’s no hurry for a bail application,” Ms Nicholas said.
