A carpark dispute turned violent when a Gladstone man allegedly approached another man from behind inside a shopping centre and struck him several times in the head, causing facial injuries and broken teeth.
Brett John Rodgers, 43 from Toolooa, has been charged with grievous bodily harm after an argument about his driving escalated to him allegedly striking a 64-year-old man in the side of the head a number of times while pinning him to the ground.
Police will allege a Clinton man had an argument with Mr Rodgers about his “manner of driving” outside the Stockland Gladstone Shopping Centre, on the corner of Phillip St and the Dawson Highway on Saturday, April 23.
It comes as The Observer can reveal shopping centres across Central Queensland that have become hotbeds for criminal activity.
The 64-year-old then walked away from the argument and into the shopping centre.
Shortly after, about 8.50am, the man was standing at a shop counter when Rodgers is alleged to have approached him from behind and hit him several times in the side of the head.
The pair fell to the ground when Rogers allegedly pinned the man to the ground and continue to punch him in the head.
The Clinton man was transported to Gladstone Hospital suffering facial injuries which included him losing a number of teeth.
Rodgers was held in custody before his matter was briefly heard in Gladstone Magistrates Court on Tuesday afternoon, April 26.
His matter has been adjourned until June 2.
