A man allegedly tossed more than $56,000 in cash out of a car with drugs inside after police caught the vehicle speeding south of Gladstone.
Two southeast Queensland men are due to face Gladstone Magistrates Court on drug related charges after their vehicle was allegedly intercepted exceeding the speed limit by 30km/hr on the Bruce Highway near Colosseum.
Police allege officers from the Calliope Road Policing Unit stopped a Mitsubishi Lancer about 3pm on Sunday, but not before a passenger was seen throwing a package out the window.
Officers located the package on the side of the highway with $56,630 inside, prompting them to detain the men and conduct a vehicle search.
It will be further alleged police located a cardboard box in the boot with five sealed bags of cannabis with a total weight of 2.4 kgs.
The passenger, a 24-year-old Inala man, was charged with two counts of possessing dangerous drugs and one count of possession of property suspected of being the proceeds of an offence under the Drugs Misuse Act.
The driver, a 26-year-old Riverview man, received the same charges with an additional speeding infringement.
Both men were granted bail and are expected to appear in court next month.
