A woman on probation for a violent assault was busted in possession of a dangerous drug, a court heard.

Gjymiah Jordan Priestley, 24, pleaded guilty in the Gladstone Magistrates Court on Friday to possessing dangerous drugs, contravening a probation order and breaching a bail condition.

On February 26, around 9.15pm, Gladstone Police observed a man and a woman, Priestley, walking along Park Street, Gladstone.

When police stopped, they saw the man and Priestley shuffling unknown items between them before walking away in opposite directions.

Priestley then tried to enter a Park Street address, before concealing items in the address’ mailbox.

Police stopped Priestley and questioned her regarding what she had put in the mailbox, to which she answered ‘weed and a cone piece’.

Police opened the mailbox to find two foil packages which contained 1.5 grams of cannabis in total.

Upon opening the second package, a cone piece which had been used was located.

Priestley refused to answer any questions in relation to the items, stating only that they belonged to her.

Police prosecutor Carl Spargo said Priestley was on probation at the time of her offending due to a domestic violence incident where she punched the aggrieved with a closed fist.

Acting Magistrate Paul Byrne convicted and sentenced Priestley to three months imprisonment, wholly suspended for 12 months and fined her $500. Convictions were recorded.
