A man copped a jail sentence after disgusting texts he sent to his victim were heard in Gladstone Magistrates Court on Friday.

Bradley Raymond Pinch, 42, sent his victim four text messages where he called her a “scum crack whore” among other degrading insults.

Pinch pleaded guilty to seven charges including possessing dangerous drugs and breaching bail conditions before Acting Magistrate Leanne Scoines.

Police prosecutor senior sergeant Carl Spargo read the facts of Pinch’s offending to the court, the most serious of which occurred on September 9, around 7.30pm.

Police attended a Brin Street address in Boyne Island after the victim called police and stated Pinch had been messaging her via Facebook Messenger.

Police saw a series of messages sent between the victim and Pinch, with the first message being sent at 11.06am and the last at 6.49pm that day on Facebook Messenger.

Pinch sent a total of 20 messages in that time frame and also attempted to call her on three occasions.

Pinch’s messages started out discussing a property dispute between the pair but ended with Pinch calling the victim derogatory names.

The messages to the victim from Pinch included “F--- off ya filthy packet. Disease ridden whore”, “Scum crack whore” “Gutless scabby crack w----”, “You’re a f------ joke. Go and f--- someone else’s like skunt”.

On October 10, around 12.50pm, Pinch attended the Tannum Sands police station and was placed under arrest.

During an interview with police Pinch admitted to sending all the messages to the victim and stated he only messaged her as she had a large amount of his property at her house that he wanted back.

Pinch was subsequently issued a notice to appear in Gladstone Magistrates Court.

Mr Spargo said Pinch had shown a refusal to rehabilitate and is a persistent drug and violence offender.

“In relation to that and as an example of the defendant’s refusal to seek any sort of help to rehabilitate, he was on a suspended sentence for drug offending at the time of committing the current offences,” he said.

Pinch’s lawyer Rio Ramos said her client had reacted angrily to his victim taking ownership of his property, however, conceded his conduct via the text messages was not appropriate.

Ms Scoines said Pinch was a man who was a recidivist offender who had blatantly disregarded the severity of suspended sentences and other court orders imposed upon him in the past.

“The only sentencing option that I see fit here today is one of actual time and you have failed to demonstrate to me why a sentence of that nature would not be appropriate,” Ms Scoines said.

Pinch was convicted and sentenced to a head sentence of four months imprisonment with a parole release date of February 18. Convictions were recorded.
