Four people aged from 18 to 43 appeared in Gladstone Magistrates Court on Tuesday and pleaded guilty to dangerous drug related offences.

Cheree Jean Fox, 37

A police search warrant on a Gladstone unit uncovered a woman’s stash of dangerous drugs and paraphernalia, a court heard.

Cheree Jean Fox, 37, pleaded guilty to three charges including possession of dangerous drugs.

Police prosecutor sergeant Merrilyn Hoskins told the court that a search warrant was executed on an Ann Street unit on November 26, around 9.25am.

Upon entry to the unit police detected the strong smell of marijuana and located Fox in the lounge room, detaining her while a search was conducted.

Police found an Esky in Fox’s bedroom under her bed which contained 206 grams of marijuana.

Fox told police she had lived at the address for around three years and had been sleeping in the bedroom for about six months.

A white grinder which contained a large amount of green residue was also found under Fox’s bed.

Fox stated the grinder did not belong to her and she did not smoke weed, however, confirmed the grinder was used to grind weed and told police to “read between the lines cause I’m not saying it’s mine.”

Police further located a set of red scales, a cone piece, a black straw with white residue, silver electrical scales in a bedside table and female items.

Police located a clear hose piece, a glass pipe with burnt residue, another glass pipe which was broken with burnt residue and a glass water pipe with a cone piece in a wardrobe in Fox’s room.

When police questioned Fox about the items, which were laid out on the top shelf within the wardrobe, Fox said she did not smoke weed and denied possession of the items.

Fox failed to answer questions in relation to the items and was subsequently transported to Gladstone watch house before being released on bail.

Fox was convicted and fined $400. No conviction was recorded.

Branden John Hedley Prescott, 38

A Gladstone man intercepted by police while riding a bike with no helmet found himself in far more severe trouble than his original crime.

Branden John Hedley Prescott, 38, pleaded guilty to rider of bicycle fail to wear approved helmet, fail to take reasonable care in respect of syringe and needle and possess property suspected of having been used in connection with the commission of a drug offence.

A court heard Prescott was intercepted by police patrolling Sun Valley Road, Kin Kora riding a bike with no helmet on at 8am on December 11.

He was questioned as to why he was not wearing a helmet and told police he was just going to drop down to the shops to get smokes and “ran the gauntlet”.

Prescott said he had been given tickets in the past for failing to wear helmets and understood it was an offence.

Police detained Prescott for a search and he made admissions to having a syringe in his board shorts pocket.

Prescott said he injected methamphetamine the night prior and was going down to the shops to dispose of the needle.

When questioned as to why he did not have the syringe in a puncture proof container, he stated he had not injected for some time and this was a one off occasion due to stress in his life.

Upon searching Prescott, police found two clip sealed bags which contained a small amount of white residue in the same pocket as the syringe.

Prescott said they were used to hold methamphetamine and used as wash bags.

He was issued a notice to appear in Gladstone Magistrates Court.

Acting Magistrate Leanne Scoines convicted and fined Prescott $433. No convictions were recorded.

Kevyn Michael Cullen, 43

A Gladstone man hid his marijuana stash in a washing basket located in the back seat of his friend’s car after an accident, a court heard.

Kevyn Michael Cullen, 43, pleaded guilty to possessing dangerous drugs.

Sergeant Merrilyn Hoskins said on December 17, around 7.10pm police were called to an accident where one car had crashed into another parked car.

Prior to police arrival, Cullen has placed a laundry basket in a friend’s Holden Commodore.

Police attended the addressed and saw Cullen standing nearby a car which appeared to have substantial damage.

Cullen told police he did not really know what happened and appeared confused and “unrealistically calm for being just involved in a traffic accident.”

Cullen left the scene after police dismissed him, however police intercepted him a short time later on Clarence Drive, New Auckland and inquired about the laundry basket.

He denied any knowledge of the basket and said he did not put anything in the car.

Upon being detained for a search, police located the basket in the boot which had a grocery bag in it that concealed 120 grams of marijuana.

Cullen stated he did not tell police the truth as he did not want to.

He was issued a notice to appear in Gladstone Magistrates Court.

Cullen was convicted and fined $400. No conviction was recorded.

Zeke Byron Jenner, 18

A man who used dangerous drugs while away on holiday in Brisbane was brought back to reality after police intercepted him driving on a busy highway.

Zeke Byron Jenner, 18, pleaded guilty to possessing dangerous drugs.

Police prosecutor sergeant Merrilyn Hoskins said police intercepted Jenner driving a white Holden Colorado dual cab on the Bruce Highway at Bororen on November 29, around 8pm.

When police asked Jenner if he had any drugs or drug utensils in the car, Jenner said he had nothing in his car, however, had something in his wallet.

Jenner was detained by police and questioned about what was in his wallet, to which he replied “coke”.

Police located a small clip seal bag which contained white powder in Jenner’s wallet.

Jenner went on to say he had purchased about one gram and had used some cocaine when he was in Brisbane.
