Boy injured after motorbike crashes down embankment in Callemondah

A boy has been discharged hospital after he suffered “significant leg injuries” following a motorbike crash. UPDATES

A boy has been discharged hospital after crashing a motorbike down an 8–10 metre embankment in Gladstone, prompting the rescue helicopter to be tasked to the scene.

Emergency services responded to the incident at a private property off Red Rover Rd, Callemondah, about 2.30pm, on Sunday.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said four crews attended and worked with Queensland Ambulance Service to come up with the best plan of action to get to the injured motorbike rider who had gone down an embankment near Calliope River.

A QAS spokeswoman said paramedics assessed a male child in a stable condition with “significant leg injuries”.

RACQ CapRescue was tasked the incident.

A rescue crewman and doctor were winched to the child.

The child was stabilised and a stretcher winch was conducted

The child was flown to Rockhampton Hospital in a stable condition to undergo scans and further assessment.

A Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service spokeswoman said the child had been discharged from hospital.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said the Forensic Crash Unit was investigating.
