Accor partners with Yaralla to construct 5-star hotel in Gladstone

A big-name hotel brand has partnered with a local sports club to develop the first luxury accommodation of its kind in Central Queensland. DETAILS, PHOTOS.

Five-star hotel chain, Peppers will soon open its doors at Gladstone.

The high-end hotel will be the first 5-star offering in all of Central Queensland and will adjoin the existing Mantra Hotel at the Yaralla Sports Club.

Construction is underway for the hotel, which is anticipated to open its 32 rooms in mid-2024.

Designs for the hotel also show expansive modern bathrooms with oversized tubs and a large swimming pool with lounging deck chairs and bar.

Designed by Brisbane-based architecture firm BSPN Architects, the Peppers development will be the first new hotel to be built in Gladstone for more than 10 years,

Yaralla Sports Club CEO Will Schroeder said that the collaboration with Accor would bring a new level of luxury to Central Queensland.

“Peppers Gladstone, in conjunction with Mantra Gladstone, will offer two levels of accommodation under one roof, meaning there will be two fantastic options for visitors to enjoy our wonderful city.”

The Yaralla Sports Club was established by QAL in 1966 to support families working at the refinery, and was granted independence in 1992.

The Gladstone Mantra Hotel was constructed in 2012, and was last renovated in 2021.

Peppers will be the first new hotel in Gladstone since the Gladstone Oaks Hotel opened in 2014. 

It is unclear whether local contractors will be employed during the construction process, which is understood to take 12 months.
