A fire that engulfed a Torquay home and left one child with burns has been deemed as “accidental” by fire investigators.
It took 17 firefighters and four crews from Torquay, Maryborough and Craignish to control the blaze at the single-storey home on Bruce St on Tuesday afternoon.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said the fire had been deemed “accidental” and was not being treated as suspicious.
It is not known how the fire was caused, or where it started on the property.
Three patients, understood to be children, were treated by paramedics, two for smoke inhalation and another for burns to his foot.
QFES area commander Matt Swainson told reporters on Tuesday the fire took nearly 40 minutes to control, and there had been a ceiling and roof collapse on the premises.
With the help of police, neighbours homes were also evacuated on the suburban street due to the smoke hazard.
Fire investigators were assessing the scene on Wednesday.
