A Torbanlea mum, who was killed in a horror crash on the Bruce Highway, has been remembered by her eldest daughter as “amazing and strong”.
Julie Morris, also known as Julie Jones, was killed when the Holden sedan she was driving collided with another vehicle on Wednesday, about 8.30pm.
The 49-year-old was a mother of seven and had four much-loved grandchildren.
Her daughter, Kaitlyn McGrath, said her “lovely mum” had “been through hell and back” in her lifetime.
“We all thought she was invincible,” Ms McGrath said.
“Not many people got to see how amazing and strong she was.”
Ms McGrath said in the past few years her mother had overcome significant struggles.
“Now she’s in a more peaceful place,” she said.
“I’ll miss her.”
Emergency crews had tried to assist the 49-year-old, but she died at the scene.
A Bundaberg couple, who were seriously injured in the crash, have also been named as Madonna and Scott Elsmore, both 44.
Mrs Elsmore was flown to Sunshine Coast University Hospital via helicopter with serious injuries while Mr Elsmore was taken to Hervey Bay Hospital.
He was discharged from hospital on Thursday.
The Bruce Highway was closed in all directions north of Maryborough after the serious head-on crash.
Early indications were that Ms Morris’ car veered into southbound lanes, crossed on to the wrong side of the highway and collided with Elsmore’s care.
The Bruce Hwy reopened in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Investigations by the Forensic Crash Unit are ongoing.
