With three decades of salon experience up her sleeve, it’s unsurprising Fraser Coast’s best hair colourist had the competition in the bag.

The owner of Fraser Coast’s Supreme Hair Artistry, Susy Flick has been named the region’s best hair colourist, after bringing in 15 per cent of the votes.

This win comes less than a year after the salon was ranked in the runner up spot for Fraser Coast’s best hairdressing salon of 2023, narrowly missing the title by just one per cent of the votes.

Located in the Westside Tavern Complex, Tinana, Susy has been running Supreme Hair Artistry salon for six years, and is currently leading a team of four talented stylists: Alicia Pegg, Monica Canu, Emily Farey and Kerry Revil.

Susy was ecstatic to hear the news of her win, saying “knowing we had such positive feedback from all of our clients made it extra special winning.”

“It’s rewarding that we have a clientele base that supports not only their particular stylist but us as a whole team.”

“Receiving the recognition for the passion we have for the industry is amazing.”

With three decades of salon experience under her belt, Susy previously operated a hair salon in Maryborough called Unique Stylz, which she ran for 10 years (between 1997-2007) before parting ways to take time off and raise her family.

After dedicating 10 years to raising her two children, as well as running a part-time home salon, Susy decided to venture out and start up a new salon, Supreme Hair Artistry.

“I chose the name because I loved hair artistry and wanted it to be something a bit different,” she said.

“It was very hard to find something that nobody else had.”

“I feel like it’s superior, and what we are doing is try to stand out.”

Susy has felt by coming back into the business and growing her team, it has been a way for her to give back to the industry and look to the next generation.

“We do have such a shortage in trade qualified people at the moment, so I think that’s important,” she said.

With a whopping 15 per cent of votes, Susy Flick cemented her place at the top of the leaderboard, very early on in the poll.

For Susy, hairdressing has been a lifelong passion of hers.

“I’ve always wanted to be a hairdresser, leading and creating an amazing salon with a great environment for my staff and clients while also believing in the future of my industry by providing quality education for myself, employees & young stylists,” she said.

When asked what her secret was to running her award-winning salon Susy responded, saying, “I believe the secret is great communication and the consultation process with our clients.”

“A positive attitude in the work space is key but also continuing constant education to keep up to date in the industry.”

“We believe that Supreme hair stands out because we all work as a team and believe putting all of our minds together produces a great quality of service for all of our clients.”

With 15 per cent of the votes, there is no doubt Susy is the crowd favourite, claiming the lead with a whopping 20 votes between her and the runner up, Sarah Booth from The Burrum Hair Lounge.
