Bushrangers, Australs hope to make up for lost ground

Both teams are hoping for a win after setbacks over the past few weeks

CRICKET: AFTER an embarrassing defeat in their last 40 Over series, the Bushrangers are out to reclaim lost ground.

Taking on the Australs this weekend, captain Jesse Riley said the team was hoping to come back after being defeated during their last match in November and make up for losing in the T20 match.

The Bushrangers only made 91 runs against the Australs, who proceeded to chase them down with 29 overs.

Riley said a combination of main batsman Brent Dean and the reliance on top bowlers from the Reserves Grade would help bolster their position.

"We're confident in the bowlers, they can fill the spots left on the team,” Riley said.

"We're keen to climb the ladder so if we win this one it might give us a chance at climbing the ladder.”

But Australs captain Clinton Hansen said they weren't going down without a fight.

"Sebastian Smith is someone who's looking for a big score this weekend, so he'll be one to look out for,” Hansen said.

"We've made other teams work hard for their wins... we've got a point to prove, we want to prove we're a team that can knock others off at the top of the table.”

Past Grammars will also take on the Cavaliers this Saturday.

All games will be played at the Keith Dunne and Newton Ovals from 12.30pm.
