Maryborough fast-food lovers can brace themselves for the return of their favourite roast chicken franchise after Red Rooster confirmed on Monday they will open again in 2022.
After closing shop permanently on Ferry Street earlier this month, Red Rooster announced it will re-open under the same franchise partner alongside Maryborough’s first 7-Eleven due to launch on a site in Alice St next year.
The site, next to McDonalds, is currently a popular parking spot for RV campers who access the fast-food outlet and the nearby Station Square Shopping Centre.
The news comes after much community speculation that the development site would not be large enough to accommodate a 7-Eleven store and Red Rooster.
The Chronicle also understands 40 Winks is on the cards for the same area.
While details on the size and design of the space of the new store are yet to be confirmed, the store aims to be up and serving by June or July next year, a Red Rooster spokesperson said.
Fans of the roast chicken specialists that have been serving Australia for almost 50 years, will be keen to know if the new Maryborough store will be serving Red Rooster’s newly-launched crunchy fried chicken.
According to the hype, the new product promises to be unlike anything on the market and is cooked to order after being brined, battered and coated in store.
The new item is currently already available in Hervey Bay and will be added permanently to the menu of 100 sites around the country initially, before it is rolled out further.
Maryborough fried-chicken enthusiasts may be waiting until mid-next year to find out if their new local Red Rooster will be serving it from the get-go.
