Not many people would be up when roosters crow to look after their animals, but Sonja Park is among them.

She is the secretary of the Maryborough Hervey Bay Poultry Club and the Fraser Coast Agriculture Show has been a long time coming for her and the club.

Ms Park said she missed out on showing her prized poultry in 2020 after the show being cancelled because of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

She has 26 entries in the show this year across the soft feather bantam, hard feather bantam and large hard feather bantam categories with the entire poultry section totalling 162 entries.

“It’s nice to be able to come back to the show, we missed it last year,” she said.

“It’s always a good social event, it’s always good to get together with everybody enjoying a shared hobby and that’s the biggest part of it.

“The Ag Show is fun … we do it to put on a great display for the general public to see rather than the competition side of things. It’s a really friendly show with the birds for people to enjoy themselves.

“I think it’s good to see the general varieties of poultry, a lot of people that have chooks in their backyards have your standard ISA brown chickens. The show is a way for them to see heritage breeds that they may not be familiar with.”

Ms Park wished the visitors to the show all the best for the event and invited them to visit the poultry display.

The Fraser Coast Agriculture Show will be held on May 20 to 21 at the Maryborough Show Grounds.
