CONCERNS OVER YOUTH CRIME
The alleged stabbing follows ongoing concerns across regional Queensland about youth crime, particularly at Toowoomba, Cairns and Townsville which spark News to launch the Enough is Enough campaign calling for tougher action and more transparency.
The issue of teenagers with knife has sparked another campaign on the Sunshine Coast following the tragic death of Balin Stewart. who was allegedly stabbed to death at Buddina at the age of just 16.
The #BinthebladeforBalin campaign started on social media while binthebladeforbalin.com.au was launched as the group urged youths to ditch knives to prevent further needless bloodshed.
“We want to rid the youth culture of today of the need to carry a knife,” Balin’s father Michael Stewart said.
