A GoFundMe page set up to help the family of a father of six who died in after an alleged one-punch incident has already raised almost $8000.
The fundraiser, started by Danielle Beer, was organised in the wake of the death of Tinana’s Nathan McPherson.
Mr McPherson, 43, died in the Royal Brisbane Hospital on Sunday after an incident near the intersection of Kent and Richmond Streets in Maryborough about 2.30am on Saturday, August 19.
On the GoFundMe page, Ms Beer said Mr McPherson was out drinking at a local pub before the incident happened.
“Nathan was alone unresponsive and severely injured in the middle of the road,” she wrote.
“Nathan sustained significant injuries to his brain and was flown down to Brisbane however the damage was so severe he would not pull through.
“Nathan was a father, husband and a son and a good mate to all that knew him, he cared for his elderly father who lives with them they also have two young children.
“The family is beyond devastated.
“Nathan was in the middle of home renovations and building his own man cave, he had not had a night out in the town for over two months, which just adds to the heartache.
“Nathan is still in Brisbane, he will be brought home soon so he can be laid to rest.”
So far $7850 has been raised by more than 64 donations.”
DTM Timber had made a donation of $2000, saying Nathan had been a loyal employee who “will be missed by all”.
