The grieving family of a young Hervey Bay crash victim has paid tribute to the 22-year-old who was killed when her car and a truck collided at Bowenville at the weekend.

Maidie Page, 22, was behind the wheel of her Holden Astra when the crash, which also claimed the life of 45-year-old Kenworth semi-trailer driver Brett Knecht, happened near Oakleigh Park Road on Sunday morning.

Tributes were flowing on social media on Monday as Ms Page’s family shared their shock and grief at the loss of their beloved sister, cousin and friend.

In an extended tribute, Ms Page said her sister had always had her back.

“You were always there for me and I could always rely on you for anything,” she wrote.

“No matter what you always supported me, guided me and you always said you were proud of me.

“You took care of us when no one else would.”

Heartbreakingly, Ms Page shared that she had tried to call her sister to see when she was coming home.

“You never answered,” she wrote.

“I’ll never get to talk to you again, I’ll never get to see you.

“I’m so broken.

“I’m going to miss you so much.”
