Funeral date announced for alleged hit and run victim Tash Raven

A funeral date has been confirmed for a much-loved mum and community volunteer who was allegedly killed in a horror hit and run.

A funeral date has been confirmed for a beloved mum killed in an alleged hit and run incident on May 26.

Hervey Bay’s Tash Raven, 43, was walking home from a night out when she was allegedly struck by a driver on Boundary Rd in Urangan.

Despite the best efforts of emergency services, she died at the scene.

Last week, 41-year-old Urangan man Brett David Eddy faced court charged with manslaughter, dangerous operation of a vehicle, driving of a motor vehicle without a driver’s licence and driver fail to exhibit proper respect to deceased showing callous disregard for the needs of a person.

He did not apply for bail and the matter was adjourned until July 25.

The community has been in mourning since Ms Raven’s death, with a paddle out held in her honour on Saturday.

Fraser Coast Stand Up Paddle Board Club president Sara Ashdown led the paddle out, saying that Tash had been learning the activity and had loved being out on the water.

The community has raised more than $36,000 towards Tash’s funeral and to help support her 15-year-old son Axl and in the wake of the tragedy.

A funeral will be held for Tash on June 10 from 11am at the Orana Chapel at J Kirk & Sons’ Hervey Bay Crematorium.

Those who attend have been invited to wear purple or their best costume in her memory.
