The shining lights of academia on the Fraser Coast have been announced as the region’s high schools acknowledge and award their highest achieving students of the 2023 school year.
With students across Qld preparing to go on Christmas holidays at the end of the week, schools are wrapping up after a busy year and revealing their duxes and highest achievers, most of which are planning to go on to tertiary education.
Congratulations to the following students and the Class of 2023:
Maryborough State High School duxes 2023
The Melville Medal has represented educational excellence at Maryborough State High School since the late 19th Century. Associated with Maryborough’s early history, the gold medal is awarded to the student who has received the highest school-based results for their senior studies.
This year's prestigious prize was given to Kate Jensen.
It was a successful week for Ms Jensen who received an early offer for a Bachelor of Psychology place at the University of Southern Queensland the same week she won the prize.
Fraser Coast Anglican College Dux 2023
As high achieving as she is well spoken, Hana Hope is 2023 Dux for the Fraser Coast Anglican College.
Winning the award makes Ms Hope “feel happy, as I believe it recognises the efforts and accomplishments I made in my academics throughout the year”.
She says she pushed herself throughout her last year of school because “education is the basis of all our future opportunities and should not be taken for granted.
She hopes to keep improving strengthen academically “because it has the capacity to evoke change in the world and allow us to become successful individuals”.
