Shooting has begun on a romantic comedy being filmed on K’gari.

It comes after a leading man - Australian actor and former Home and Away star Lincoln Lewis - was announced for the production.

International star Rhiannon Fish, who appeared in When Love Springs, A Royal in Paradise, Team Bride, and For the Love of Chocolate, will play the lead female role of Holiday, supported by Georgie Parker, star of Home and Away, All Saints and A Country Practice.

The movie is being produced by Fraser Coast Films, a company which grew out of the team that directed and produced the psychological thriller 13 Summers, a movie that was shot in Hervey Bay in late 2022, and is due for release later this year.

He Loves Me Not is about a wildcard contestant starring on a reality television show similar to The Bachelor who is in it for the money but ends up falling in love.

It is being directed by Tam Sainsbury, who also directed 13 Summers.

Last month, Ms Sainsbury said locations had been scouted for the film.

“There are so many beautiful spots around the island – we’re really lucky,” she said.

“Basically it’s about an American actor living and working on K’gari.

“She wants to get into an acting course but she doesn’t have money, then she finds out a reality show is coming to the island and she’s asked to join the show as a wildcard.

“But along the way she falls love with the lead guy.”

Sponsorship and support from Fraser Coast people and businesses was also welcome, she said.

Ms Sainsbury said the company was aiming to produce two films a year on the Fraser Coast.
