Stealing his prescription medication from a Hervey Bay pharmacy was a bad idea – but leaving behind his script with his name on it was even worse.

Karl Robert Scope pleaded guilty to the stealing offence when he appeared before Hervey Bay Magistrates Court on Thursday.

The court heard the incident happened on August 26 when Scope went to Urangan’s Priceline pharmacy to fill a $12 script.

The court heard he removed his medication from the tray provided by a pharmacy and walked out without paying.

Attempts were made to find him, but staff were unsuccessful.

But he had left his script behind in the tray when he walked out.

CCTV footage was also given to police.

The court heard Scope went to the police station for an unrelated matter and was questioned by police in relation to taking the medication without paying.

He stated his mental health was poor and that’s why he didn’t pay.

Scope was ordered to pay a $150 fine and $12 to the pharmacy.
