Three Coast men face court for growing marijuana for ‘medical reasons’
In the three separate matters the men said they used the drug to self medicate for pain and tremors, with police describing one of the set-ups as “semi-sophisticated”.

Three men have faced Maryborough Magistrates Court after being caught growing marijuana, with all three claiming to use the drug for medical reasons.
In unrelated matters, all three pleaded guilty to growing the drug at their Fraser Coast homes.
Rick Andrew Sauer pleaded guilty to a number of drug offences, including producing and possessing marijuana, when he appeared before court this week.
The court heard when police executed a search warrant at his home, they found five grams of marijuana.
In a rear shed, six small cannabis plants were found in a pot.
The court heard Slack used the substance for pain management.
He had suffered back pain after being in a crash, the court was told.
Sauer was fined $900 and a conviction was recorded.
In another matter, Norman Lee Jarvis also pleaded guilty to drug offences, including producing and possessing dangerous drugs.
The court heard Jarvis had four small cannabis plants in a bedroom in a tent.
He also had hydroponic equipment and a quantity of cannabis in the Tinana home.
The court heard Jarvis admitted his set-up was “semi sophisticated”.
He also used the cannabis for pain relief.
The court heard he had been in a motorcycle crash and had undergone three surgeries.
Pharmaceutical pain relief didn’t help him, the court was told, and he was receiving WorkCover.
He was fined $1800.
Jamie MacDonald also faced court for producing and possessing dangerous drugs.
The court heard the state dog squad had executed a raid, locating two cannabis plants in an ensuite bathroom.
A tent used to grow the plants was found in the music room of the home.
MacDonald, 49, was using the cannabis to assist with tremors.
He was in the process of accessing medicinal marijuana, the court heard.
MacDonald was fined $900.
