The Fraser Coast community has thrown its support behind a teenage boy fighting for his life in the Brisbane Children’s Hospital after falling from a motorcycle on October 19, 2022.

Brennan Dunne, 16, suffered leg, head and spinal injuries in the fall, which happened at a private property at Island Plantation near Maryborough.

He was airlifted to Brisbane Children’s Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

So far, the community has raised more than $6400 to support his family as they remain by his side.

“He has such a loving and supportive family surrounding him right now and our only goal is to make life a bit easier for them during this time,” the family said on the GoFundMe page set up to raise money.

“At the moment the family just need to be by his side and we ask if you wanted to help in the way of donations then this money would assist in making their lives a little easier to be with Brennan.”

Brennan is described by his family as an “outgoing boy who always lives life to its fullest” and “one of those kids who everyone likes”.

“He will always make the time to have a chat and see how your day was,” the family said on the donations page.

“His road to recovery will be long but we hope by helping out his parents, Chris and Tracey, their spouse’s Bec and Glen and his eight siblings, this will ease the pressure, just a little bit for them.”

Brennan’s dad, Chris Dunne, said Brennan had been wearing protective clothing, including boots and a helmet, at the time of the incident.

“He is still currently in ICU in Brisbane and we are taking his recovery moment to moment,” he said.

“We have a supportive network behind us.”

Mr Dunne said the money raised would ensure the family could stay with Brennan.
