Western Downs residents pay tribute to Dalby man, Lincoln Hoad following shock fatal alleged assault

A beloved Dalby man who was the alleged victim of a fatal assault outside a regional pub will be hailed a hero following his ‘last opportunity to help some people’ by saving multiple lives, including a child.

A Dalby man who died after he was allegedly struck in the head on the weekend outside a pub has cemented himself as a hero, having been able to save a number of lives in a final act of kindness.

It was shared on a GoFundMe page created for Lincoln Hoad’s family that he donated five organs following his death, one of which was given to a child.

Police allege that in the early hours on Saturday, Lincoln Hoad was hit in the back of the head outside of the Australian Hotel on Cunningham St in Dalby, which caused him to fall.

He was rushed to hospital in critical condition before the 32-year-old man was flown to Princess Alexandra Hospital.

It was reported the beloved plumber had his life support turned off the following day.

Siblings of Mr Hoad took to social media to share heartbreaking tributes, with the man’s sister Tiffany Taylor revealing her brother would have wanted to take the “last opportunity to help some people” by donating his organs.

Family members of Mr Hoad confirmed the his death and said a guard of honour was held for the Dalby man at the hospital as he donated his organs.

The man’s father-in-law Tim Wonhung took to social media Monday morning to commend the Dalby man for his heroic donation.

“Today we sit with Lincoln and Shalika at the PA hospital preparing for his last ultimate gift, the gift of life to many through organ donation,” Mr Wonhung said.

“RIP Lincoln ride well in Harley heaven Son. Heroes don’t always wear capes.”

Mr Hoad’s sister Melina Josey also shared a heartbreaking tribute for her brother.

“My dear little brother Lincoln, today we lost a truly beautiful, fun loving larrikin,” she said.

“I feel proud and privileged to be your sister.”

Following the alleged assault police charged a 33-year-old Capalaba man with grievous bodily harm.

He appeared in St George Magistrates Court on Tuesday where he was granted bail.
