Residents across the Western Downs have rallied in support of a man who is fighting for his life after he was allegedly struck outside a Dalby pub on the weekend.
Police alleg that in the early hours of Saturday morning, Lincoln Hoad was struck in the back of the head while outside the Australian Hotel on Cunningham St before falling and hitting his head.
The 32-year-old was flown to Princess Alexandra Hospital where he remains on life support.
Tributes of love and support for the beloved Dalby man continue to pour from friends and family, with a GoFundMe page being launched that has raised now $12,000 as of Monday morning.
Police have charged a 33-year-old Capalaba man with grievous bodily harm, with the man expected to appear in St George Magistrates Court Monday afternoon.
Mr Hoad’s partner of 14 years Shalika Jade took to Facebook Sunday afternoon to thank everyone for their support.
“Thank you everyone for the messages I’ve been getting. It is so lovely just how loved my man is,” she said.
“I’ve been set up to cuddle my sweet Lincoln all night and I’ve been telling him how loved he is. Oh I wish for a miracle.”
The fundraiser’s organiser and friend of Mr Hoad’s, Shayden Russell, shared a touching tribute for her friend on the campaign’s page.
“For those of you who were fortunate enough to meet Lincoln, (you) knew he was always there to help out, no matter who you were or what time of the day it was,” Ms Russell said.
“We are praying for a huge miracle.”
The campaign page said as a result of the incident on September 15, Mr Hoad was placed on life support, had sustained a severe brain bleed and his chance of survival was minimal.
“He was an outgoing, loud, funny, loveable guy … his smile was infectious and he would know how to cheer you up straight away! He was always there when you needed to vent or have a chat.”
