A search warrant uncovered a covert grow operation on a former butcher’s property, with marijuana plants and seeds found, a court has heard.

Mark Edward Worthington, 38, faced Dalby Magistrates Court charged with producing dangerous drugs, possessing drugs and utensils, and contravening a police direction.

The court heard a search warrant was executed by detectives at Worthington’s Kogan address on April 10, where upon inspection 31.5g of marijuana was found, with 919 seeds included in this.

Police prosecutor Derek Brady said three mature plants were also found, and a drug utensil.

The contravening a requirement related to when the Kogan man failed to provide particulars to police.

Defence solicitor Jessica Hine said the former butcher and father of four used drugs to help with pain management for his health conditions.

Worthington pleaded guilty and was given one fine of $1800 for all offences.

A conviction was recorded.
